Heat and Light: Taking it for granted?
Huge snowstorm in the northeast...power lines down, Halloween canceled in some towns--oh no!
Don't shoot me, but my power lines are back up. Yep, came on yesterday. And I have to say, that with each light I flick on, with each gust of heat from the old radiator, I am so grateful. I am extra appreciative for something I usually take for granted. It's kind of like when you injure a part of your body or have dental surgery. Suddenly, that toe or rib or tooth or elbow becomes inflated, with the rest of your body miniscule in comparison. All you can feel is "the pain, the pain!" And when you're healed, the appreciation for the lack of pain lingers...until you get busy with life again.
My life is super busy and I take a lot of granted. Hey, we can't think about every small thing during the day. And yet, thinking about the small things--and having heat is pretty big right now--can make a startling difference in the way we perceive life around us. Appreciating all aspects of life is part of our choosing to be positive.
Halloween? My dog is going to be Robin Hood. But I've a sneezy, sinusy virus and am stuck at home giving out candy. Ahem. I mean, I'm lucky to be home, in a warm, lighted house, giving out candy to cute little kids who are having the time of their lives. Have a happy and safe Halloween! And find something to appreciate.
